THE IDEA
Evaluating the wing designs present on the market has made us decide to develop a completely new glider, granting improvments in both, safety and performance.
 
 
THE CREATION AND THE ELLIPTICAL SHAPE
There may be some doubt about the elliptical shape - that is what we can report whilst the PPC market investigation process -, wrongfully the layout form has often been connected with unstability. Nowadays elliptical wing shapes are standard technology in wing designs in all aviation developments. Stability can be achieved by appropriate profile shapes, proper lift distribution, proper aspect ratio etc. etc. The elliptical shape rather increases stability.
 
 
THE TESTINGS
The wing has been long term tested for safety and general behavior to suit for the PPC. All kind of relevant maneuvers have been proceeded and flight tests have shown exceptional flight stability.
For maximum safety, an official load test (in Germany at the German Hanggliding association) has been proceeded and we could succeed with a dynamic test (schock test) of 4.400lbs and a static test (load test) of 5.808lbs. The canopy has not shown any single damage and we even could have gone higher with loads but the testing equipment was not sufficient enough to reach more loads. With a soft wing, these have been the highest loads ever achieved at official testings!

THE PRODUCT
The new CHIRON, a synthesis of safety, stability and uncomplicated handling whilst giving more lift and glide performance!

profiles/ribs Nylon-Ripstop 44gr/sqm, NCV Porcher Marine S092FM, hard finish for minimum stretch in all directions
lines Polyethylene (core) with Polyester cover (Dyneema or Spectra are known brand names for the Polyethylene fibre). The material is a special and long term proven pre-stretched high molecular structured weaving with maximum strengths whilst granting low stretch and bending insensivity. The canopy is equipped with line diameters from 0,04inch (143lbs breaking strength) up to 0,094inch (792lbs breaking strength), all in all 5 different line diameters/qualities are in use; a in diameter differing line conception to achieve maximum overall strength with lowest possible drag.

    REMARK ON THE CANOPY'S SIZE:
Due to the advanced airfoil technology, the wing creates much more lift and the size cannot be compared to the size of the common square canopy. If f.e. the regular square canopy is ment to have 500sqft, then, by using the same method of measuring, the CHIRON would then have approx. 410sqft, i.e. the CHIRON is approx. 90sqft.smaller in layout area. The difference between the layout area and the projected area on the CHIRON is much smaller than the same difference on the square canopy. That means, the CHIRON creates a relatively bigger projected area in flight. The performance of the canopy compensates the compared relatively less wing area. The new CHIRON especially makes the use of the Rotax 503 engine (or similar engines with less power compared to the Rotax 582) now much more reasonable for a 2 seater PPC!
